Homespun Homeschool Week #2

Week 2 of Homespun Homeschool: We learned about the pilgrims sailing to America, studied the Bible, researched and wrote a two-paragraph biography of the scientist Hipparchus, learned about the axial skeleton, learned how to define terms, extend terms, and how to separate terms by genus and species, reviewed Latin vocab and grammar rules, located 5 more states and capitals of the U.S. on a map, started writing an ANI chart for The Phantom Tollbooth, practiced writing whole, half and quarter notes, read about George Washington and Daniel Boone, learned new vocabulary words and drew pictures to illustrate them, researched and discussed whether or not homeschooling should be legal, practiced spelling, reviewed Latin declensions, and viewed the moon through our telescope!

Homespun Homeschool Week #1

Week 1 of Homespun Homeschool: We opened our schule-tutes and got to work, found states and capitals of the U.S. on a map, studied the Bible, read about Benjamin Franlink and applied his story to the issue of eminent domain, learned about Columbus’ trip to America, read The Phantom Tollbooth, learned about 4 types of tissue, practiced spelling, started Algebra, read an introduction on Logic, picked back up on Latin, researched the scientist Hipparchus, and had a back-to-school breakfast with our Classical Conversations community!

Homespun Homeschool Week #24

Week 24 of Homespun Homeschool: We learned the anatomy of a neuron and neuromuscular junction, drew a map of the world from memory, wrote and presented a time-travel journal for Leonardo da Vinci, created bridges with straws & tape to see whose was the strongest, translated a poem from Latin, went bowling with friends, caught up on our Challenge A Class devotional, dissected brains and eyeballs, gave end-of-the-year presentations to our CC Community, had an end of the year auction, had an awesome end-of-the-year bluebook/candy party, and got to pie our teachers in the face!

Homespun Homeschool Week #23

Week 23 of Homespun Homeschool: We learned the anatomy of an eye, diagrammed sentences, drew a commissioned work of the Furman University Campus, worked on Decimals, had a native Australian share her culture and favorite foods, wrote a persuasive essay on Crispin: The Cross of Lead, worked on spelling, wrote a paper about The Wonderful World of Legos and Video Games, started writing a time travelling paper about Leonardo da Vinci, and went to see a Mock Trial put on by the Challenge B CC class!

Homespun Homeschool Week #22

Week 22 of Homespun Homeschool: We practiced integers, taught math concepts to our class, wrote a paper about the Superior, Spectacularly Super Mario Brothers Movie, diagrammed sentences, learned the anatomy of a brain, memorized the grography of Africa, wrote the ANI chart for Crispin: The Cross of Lead, gave a presentation on Mom’s music, learned cartography terms, played in the creek with friends, wrote a persuasive essay on The Secret Garden, and made egg protectors and had the fire department test them by dropping from their ladder!
